Travel Insurance for Students Studying Abroad (MSIG Overseas Student Plus) Designed for students planning to pursue their studies overseas, MSIG Overseas Student Plus provides coverage for both short-term study programs starting from 3 months and long-term courses of up to 2 consecutive years. Available to individuals aged 11 to 50 years, with premiums starting from THB 4,700, the plan provides protection from the time of departure from Thailand. Benefits may include Flight Delay and Baggage Delay Benefits, Medical Expenses, Tuition Fee Loss, and Loss of or Damage to Personal Belongings resulting from theft. For added peace of mind while studying abroad, the plan may also provide Hospital Visitation Benefits for parents or guardians in the event the insured person suffers a serious illness or severe injury requiring hospitalization. Eligible expenses may include airfare and expedited visa application costs, subject to the terms and conditions of the policy. The plan also offers a range of assistance services throughout the insured journey, including telemedicine consultations through the Mordee application for minor medical concerns and 24/7 worldwide emergency medical and travel assistance through MSIG Assist. In addition, eligible customers may enjoy complimentary access to MSIG Easy Lounge when their flight is delayed by more than 60 minutes, subject to the applicable terms and conditions of the service. Notes :
- Item No. 1: Medical Expense Benefit cover treatment for accidental injury and illness, including medical treatment received in Thailand within 90 days in the event the insured person returns to Thailand temporarily and subsequently resumes overseas studies. Coverage is limited to THB 200,000 and applies only to insurance plans with a policy period of one year or longer.
- Item No. 2: The Sum Insured for Emergency Medical Evacuation, Repatriation to Thailand, and Repatriation of Mortal Remains to Thailand shall not exceed the maximum Sum Insured specified under this benefit. If it is determined that the insured person's injury, illness, or death was caused by a Pre-Existing Condition, coverage under this benefit shall be limited to a maximum of 5% of the Sum Insured stated in the Policy Schedule, which forms part of and is not in addition to the Sum Insured for Emergency Medical Evacuation, Repatriation to Thailand, and Repatriation of Mortal Remains to Thailand.
- Item No.5: Including reasonable transportation expenses, accommodation expenses, and meal expenses, limited to THB 5,000 per day or THB 50,000 per occurrence.
- Item 3, 4, 6 : Sum Insured applies per occurrence and in the aggregate for the entire Period of Insurance, for all other items : Sum Insured applies per occurrence.
Deductible Amount
- Item No.11, 14: Subject to a deductible of THB 1,000 per occurrence.
- item No. 13: Subject to a deductable of THB 2,000 per occurrence.
Flight delay: Coverage applies when a scheduled flight is delayed beyond its original departure time due to any of the following reasons:
1. Adverse weather conditions;
2. Mechanical problems of the aircraft;
3. Strike or protest by employees of commercial airline or airport preventing the departure. The Company will pay compensation for additional accommodation, food, and beverage expenses incurred as a result of a travel delay.
Loss of or Damage to Baggage and/or Personal Effects: Coverage is provided for loss of or damage to the insured person's baggage and/or personal effects during the trip as a result of any of the following events:
1. Negligence or error by hotel staff or a transportation provider while the baggage, including personal effects contained therein, has been entrusted to and accepted into their custody;
2. Theft involving forcible and violent entry into a hotel room in which the insured person has registered and is staying as a guest, or theft by any person not excluded under the policy who gains entry to or exits from the insured person's accommodation while residing overseas, using force that results in visible physical damage to the premises;
3. Robbery or gang robbery of the baggage and/or personal effects; or
4. Theft of the baggage and/or personal effects following the breaking of a vehicle window of the damaged vehicle.
- Applicants must be aged between 11 and 50 years inclusive.
- Coverage is available only for journeys commencing from Thailand.
- Applicants must be residents of Thailand.
- Applicants must be in good health and must not have any physical impairment or permanent disability.
- Only one policy may be purchased under this insurance product by the same insured person at any one time.
- Applicants must be enrolled in a recognized overseas educational institution, including vocational education programs.
- Applicants must not participate in, train for, or compete in any sport, whether on a professional or amateur basis.
- The applicant consents to and authorizes any medical institution, including hospitals and clinics, as well as the Company's representatives or any related organization, to disclose information relating to the applicant to MSIG Insurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited upon request.
- Suicide, attempted suicide, or self-inflicted injury.
- Pre-Existing Conditions.
- Any loss, injury, illness, or damage arising while the insured person is under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, or illegal drugs.
- War, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities or warlike operations (whether war is declared or not), civil war, revolution, rebellion, insurrection, strikes, civil commotion, uprising against the government, martial law, or terrorism.
- Loss, damage, cost, or expense arising directly or indirectly from radioactive contamination, chemical agents, biological agents, biochemical substances, or electromagnetic weapons.
- Travel undertaken against the advice of a medical practitioner, or travel undertaken for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment overseas.
- While the insured person is serving as military personnel, police officers, emergency response personnel, firefighters, or volunteers engaged in military operations, warfare, peacekeeping operations, or law enforcement activities.
- While the insured person is engaged in occupations such as plumbing, electrical work, mechanical work, carpentry, painting, decorating, construction work, installation, assembly, maintenance or repair of hydraulic machinery, work in hazardous environments, or other manual labor occupations. This exclusion does not apply to administrative, supervisory, managerial, sales, or food preparation duties.
- While the insured person is riding or traveling on a motorcycle, participating in or training for motor racing, boat racing, horse racing, any type of ski racing (including jet skiing), skate racing, boxing, parachuting (except where undertaken for the purpose of saving life), boarding, alighting from, or traveling in a balloon, bungee jumping, scuba diving requiring underwater breathing apparatus (except where undertaken for the purpose of saving life), paramotoring, paragliding, hang-gliding, similar aerial sports, or extreme sports involving a high degree of risk. Including an Electric Scooter or Hoverboard. For the purpose of this exclusion: - "Electric Scooter" means an electrically powered vehicle equipped with front and rear wheels and handlebars. - "Hoverboard" means an electrically powered self-balancing vehicle with left and right wheels, with or without handlebars.
- While the insured person is participating in, or provoking, a fight or altercation.
- While the insured person is training for or participating in professional sports, sports competitions, or amateur sports competitions or training.
- While the insured person is acting as a pilot, flight crew member, military personnel, police officer, or volunteer engaged in military operations, warfare, peacekeeping operations, or law enforcement activities.
- While the insured person is boarding, alighting from, or traveling in an aircraft that is not licensed or registered for passenger transport and is not operated by a commercial airline.
Excluded Destinations This Policy does not provide coverage for travel to, or travel within, the following countries or territories: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Cuba, Iraq, Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Nicaragua, North Korea, Pakistan, Palestine, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Russia, and Ukraine. For Nepal, coverage does not apply to activities involving rock climbing or mountaineering.

For Medical and Travel Assistance
A: The Overseas Student Travel Insurance policy must be purchased at least 2 hours prior to departure from Thailand. Coverage begins upon commencement of the insured journey and continues until the insured person returns to Thailand, up to 2 hours after arrival, or until the policy expiration date, whichever occurs first. This insurance cannot be purchased after the insured person has departed from Thailand. The insured journey must originate from Thailand and terminate in Thailand.
A: This benefit is available only for policies with a coverage period exceeding 12 months. The policy provides coverage for medical expenses arising from both accidental injury and illness, up to THB 200,000, for treatment received within 90 days from the date of return to Thailand for a temporary visit.
A: The insured person may request an extension of coverage for an additional year of study. The request must be submitted to the Company and approved before the policy expiration date. The Company reserves the right to review and revise the premium rates and underwriting terms and conditions based on the insured person's previous claims history and other relevant underwriting considerations.
A: Yes. The Overseas Student policy offers benefits beyond overseas medical coverage. In addition to medical expense coverage, the policy may provide benefits such as tuition fee loss compensation, hospital visitation expenses for parents or guardians (including transportation and accommodation expenses), loss of or damage to baggage and personal effects while using public transportation services, flight delay benefits, and 24/7 worldwide emergency assistance services, subject to the terms, conditions, and coverage limits specified in the policy wording.

A: MSIG will assess and process claims under the Overseas Student Plus Insurance policy within 15 business days after receiving all required claim documents. The claim assessment period may vary depending on the nature of the claim and the complexity of the supporting documentation. In certain circumstances, additional time may be required; however, the claim assessment period will not exceed 90 days from the date all necessary information and documents have been received. Insured persons may track the status of their claims 24 hours a day via the MSIG Claim Tracking portal.
