Summary insurance coverage details and exclusions.

Loss of Life, Dismemberment, Loss of Sight or Total Permanent Disability (Orbor 1)

Covering in the event Insured sustains injury from an accident and suffers loss of life, dismemberment, loss of sight or total permanent disability within 180 days from the date of the accident or while receiving continuous medical treatment as an in-patient in a hospital or medical facilities and loss of life occurs because of such injury. The Company shall pay Sum Insured of this coverage stated in the policy.

Exclusions:

  1. Suicide or self-inflicted injury or any attempts thereat.
  2. Miscarriage
  3. Acts of the Insured while under the influence of alcohol or addictive substances or drugs of harmful nature to the extent of being incapable of controlling one’s senses. The definition of “under the influence of alcohol” in the case of a blood test is a level of alcohol of 150-mg.% or higher.
  4. While the Insured is driving or riding a motorcycle, boarding or disembarking or travelling as a passenger in an aircraft not licensed for carrying passengers and not operated by a commercial airline and while operating or serving as crewmember in any aircraft.
  5. While the Insured is participating in or practicing for or competing in professional sports or while engaging in all types of motor or car racing or boat racing, horse racing, skiing including jet-ski, skating, boxing and parachute jumping (except parachute jumping to save life), boarding or alighting or travelling in a hot-air balloon or glider, bungee jumping, all diving activities which require the use of oxygen tanks and underwater respirator, rock climbing which requires the use of climbing support equipment.
  6. While the Insured is engaging in brawl or having part in inciting a brawl.
  7. While the Insured is in the course of committing a felony or while under arrest or escaping arrest; while the Insured is performing duties as a member of armed forces or police or as a volunteer and engaged in war or crime suppression.
  8. While the Insured has mental and nervous disorders including insanity.

Trip Cancellation/ Postponement

Covering compensation for the advance payment for the trip, cost of airfares, accommodations and meals paid by the Insured in advance in the event the trip is cancelled or postponed due to

  1. Death or serious injury or sickness of the Insured
  2. Death or serious injury or sickness of the Insured's family member
  3. Damage to the Insured’s residence due to fire, lightning, explosion caused by cooking gas, including natural perils. The Company shall pay actual expenses but not exceed Sum Insured of this coverage.

Exclusions:

Loss or damage recoverable from other sources; trip cancellation or postponement which is known to the Insured before the purchase of this insurance or due to treatment of chronic symptoms, any pre-existing medical conditions or complications subsequently occurred.

Flight Delay

Covering in the event the departure of the aircraft is delayed from schedule as stated in the air ticket when the Insured presents himself/herself for check-in within the time required by the airline due to

  1. Bad weather conditions
  2. Mechanical problems of the aircraft
  3. Strike or other operations by employees of commercial airline or airport preventing the departure.

The Company shall indemnify as follows; in the event the airline does not cancel the flight, the Company shall pay the benefit amount as specified in the Schedule for every six (6) hours of flight delay but not exceed Sum Insured.

Exclusions:

Loss of or damage to any travel privileges of the Insured; flight delay which is known to the Insured before the purchase of this insurance.

Baggage Delay

Covering in the event the Insured’s baggage arrives at the destination after schedule for every six (6) hours of delay caused by errors of the carrier payable in the amount as specified in the Schedule.

Exclusions:

Baggage delay arising out of the return journey to Thailand at an airport in Thailand; expense recovered or recoverable from the carrier.

Missed Connecting Flight

Covering in the event the Insured misses a scheduled onward connecting flight due to late arrival of the Insured’s incoming flight at the transfer point and no other onward flight is available to the Insured within the specified hours. The Company shall pay the amount as specified in the Schedule for every six (6) consecutive hours of delay but not exceed Sum Insured of this coverage.

Exclusions:

The Insured’s failure to be present at the check-in point on time; negligence of the tour operator or travel agency; delay caused by cancellation of service of the carrier or by order or advice of government.

Personal Liability (Only for travel by Bangkok Airways & Thai Airways)

Covering Personal Liability on behalf of the Insured in the event of Loss of Life or Bodily Injury or Loss of or Damage to property of a Third Party as a result of an accident caused by the Insured. (Payable per actual expense but not exceeding the sum insured specified in the Schedule of Policy)

Exclusions:

  1. Loss or damage including bodily injury occurred to a person(s) who is a relative or employee or deemed by law to be employee of the Insured.
  2. Loss of or damage to property which belongs to the Insured or by law is under custody or control of the Insured.
  3. Loss or damage relating to any liability assumed under contract, without which the Insured would not be liable.
  4. Loss or damage relating to the Insured’s willful, malicious or unlawful acts.
  5. Loss or damage due to the ownership, possession or use of vehicles, aircraft, firearms, animals, land, or building or arising out of negligence in control or care.
  6. Liability in connection with trade or profession or errors in business operations.
  7. Loss or damage due to acts of the Insured while in the state of mental and nervous disorder, insanity, including while being engaging in a brawl or having part in inciting a brawl.

Repatriation of Mortal Remains (Only for International trip)

Covering the expenses as billed by MSIG Assist for the repatriation of the Insured’s mortal remains in the event the Insured suffers loss of life while travelling.) but not exceed Sum Insured of this coverage. Repatriation of Mortal Remains is only applicable for International Plan.

Exclusions:

Expenses for the transportation of the Insured which have not been approved and arranged by the authorized representative of the Company (MSIG Assist); any pre-existing conditions.

Medical Expense due to Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) Infection while in flight policy (Only for Domestic trip)

In the event the Covered Person travels with an Aircraft and is diagnosed by a physician of having an infection of COVID-19 is discovered within 15 days after completing the journey with the Aircraft and as a result has to receive medical treatment in accordance with the general medical standard either as an in-patent or out-patient sustained from while in flight provided the infection;

Exclusions:

  1. Infection or sickness from COVID-19 due to Pre-existing Conditions.
  2. Fee for special nurse, weight support equipment (except crutches), wheelchair, prostheses, alternative medicine or acupuncture.

General Exclusion

War, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities or warlike operations (whether War be declared or not), civil War, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, civil commotion assuming the proportions of or amounting to an uprising, military or usurped power, any act of terrorism, riot, strike.

Ionizing radiations, any chemical, biological, bio-chemical, or electromagnetic weapon, the destruction of property by order of any public authority.

Whilst the Insured is working in a high-risk environment or a laborer task, maneuvering machineries, oil or gas rigs, underground mines, fishery.

General Conditions

I hereby certify that I have the right and authority to act on behalf of and/or make statements in order to purchase insurance policy(ies) for myself or others and also agree/give consent as follow:

  • give consent to and/or permission for the company to use, access and/or acknowledge email, electronic information channels/systems and personal information provided for the purposes of the approval of insurance contract(s), insurance services, related communication, storage and for other related matters as reasonably necessary;
  • as well as provide such information (including health and personal information) to the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) or other related authorities, as reasonably required and necessary.

I, as the Buyer, the Insured or the Policyholder as the case maybe, hereby certify that all the particulars and details provided above are true and complete and

  • I wish to purchase insurance cover from the Company in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Company’s Insurance Policy applicable to this Insurance and
  • I agree and/or wish to have the Travel Insurance Policy document to be sent to me via electronic mail system (email) at the address as provided and
  • also request the Company to send to me documents related to Insured(s) whose email address is not specifically provided and I shall forward such documents to the respective Insured(s).
  • I certify and agree that this information shall also become the basis of the insurance contract between I and the Company.

I hereby certify that all assureds are in good health and have no any disabilities and are not travelling to obtain any medically related treatment(s).

Warning of the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC): Please ensure you have provided all true information above truthfully otherwise the Company may have cause to deny liability under the Policy in accordance with Section 865 of the Civil & Commercial Code.

Underwriting Conditions and Eligibility

  1. Only valid for Thai residents between 1-85 years old on departure date.
  2. Only valid for Thai residents.
  3. Only valid for flights originating from Thailand.
  4. Applicant must be in good health conditions and with no disability.
  5. Insurance is non-refundable.
  6. Infection or sickness from COVID-19 (including complications) sustained by the Covered Person before the date of the purchase of this insurance (Pre-existing condition exclusion)
  7. One policy per person limitation

Period of Insurance

●  Domestic Plan

One-way Travel

Insurance policy commences when the Insured is checked through the ID Check-Point to proceed to the departure gate at the airport of origin until

  1. One (1) hour after the Insured arrives at the airport of destination of the trip or at the time the Insured arrives at his/her accommodation, whichever comes first;
  2. the date of the cancellation of the Policy;
  3. the date of the expiry of the Policy; whichever comes first.

Round-Trip Travel

Departure Trip

Insurance policy commences when the Insured is checked through the ID Check-Point to proceed to the departure gate at the airport of origin and shall continue until

  1. One(1) hour after the Insured arrives at the airport of destination of the trip or at the time the Insured arrives at his/her accommodation, whichever comes first;
  2. the date of the cancellation of the Policy;
  3. the date of the expiry of the Policy; whichever comes first.

In case of travelling with connecting flights, the insurance coverage shall be in force only within the airport area.

Return Trip

Insurance policy commences when the Insured is checked through the ID Check-Point to proceed to the departure gate at the airport of origin and shall continue until

  1. One(1) hour after the Insured arrives at the airport of destination of the trip or at the time the Insured arrives at his/her accommodation, whichever comes first;
  2. the date of the cancellation of the Policy;
  3. the date of the expiry of the Policy; whichever comes first.

●  International Plan

One-way Travel

Insurance policy commences when the Insured is checked through the Departure Immigration to leave Thailand and shall continue until

  1. the Insured is checked through the Arrival Immigration at the country of destination;
  2. the date of the cancellation of the Policy;
  3. the date of the expiry of the Policy; whichever comes first.

In case of travelling with connecting flights, the insurance coverage shall be in force only within the airport area.

Round-Trip Travel

Departure Trip

Insurance policy commences when the Insured is checked through the Departure Immigration to leave Thailand and shall continue until

  1. the Insured is checked through the Arrival Immigration at the country of destination;
  2. the date of the cancellation of the Policy;
  3. the date of the expiry of the Policy; whichever comes first.

In case of travelling with connecting flights, the insurance coverage shall be in force only within the airport area.

Return Trip

Insurance policy commences when the Insured is checked through the Departure Immigration to leave for Thailand and shall continue until

  1. the Insured is checked through the Arrival Immigration in Thailand;
  2. the date of the cancellation of the Policy;
  3. the date of the expiry of the Policy; whichever comes first.

For the Insuring Agreement for Flight Delay, the insurance coverage shall become when the Insured has arranged to travel is delayed from schedule as stated in the air ticket when the Insured presents himself/herself for check-in within the time required by the airline and expire as described above.

How to Claim

Claim Submission via Online

  1. Download MSIG SpeeDi application for your iOS or Android phones; and register an account.
  2. Submit your claim online via SpeeDi within 30 days of the date of the incident.
  3. Complete the relevant sections and questions in the online form; and attach all the required supporting documents according to the instructions. Please note that incomplete details or documents will result in the need for clarification and likely delay the assessment of your claim.
  4. Once the claim has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation of your claim number within three (3) working days after MSIG receives your documents.

Claim Submission via Email or Posted Mail

  1. Download a copy of the MSIG Travel Insurance claim form here. Your claim must be submitted within 30 days of the date of the incident.
  2. Complete the relevant sections and questions on the claim form. Please note, incomplete information will result in the need for clarification and likely delay the assessment of your claim.
  3. Ensure that you collate and attach all the required supporting documents to your claim form. Missing documents will usually result in the need for clarification and thus delay the assessment of your claim.
  4. Your claim form and supporting documents may be submitted by email at Insurance_Claim@th.msig-asia.com or via post to MSIG Insurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited, PA & Healthcare Claims Department, 1908 MSIG Building, New Petchaburi Road, Bangkapi, Huay Kwang, Bangkok 10310.
  5. Once the claim has been submitted, you will receive confirmation of your claim number via SMS within three (3) working days (for claims submitted via email) or within five (5) working days (for posted claims) after MSIG has received your documents.

  3. A Physician’s Report (in the case of Serious Injury or Serious Sickness of the Insured or Family Members)
  4. A Death Certificate (in the case of Death of the Insured or Family Members);

  6. Evidence of Trip Cancellation or Postponement and the amount of compensation recoverable from other sources (if any).

  5. Evidence of disease investigation of the government authority concerned indicating that the Covered Person has been infected with COVID-19 while boarding an Aircraft.

If I get sick during my trip, will MSIG Travel Insurance cover hospital and other related expenses?

Under which conditions will flight delay be covered by MSIG Travel Insurance?
MSIG Travel Insurance covers flight delay for scheduled flights due to the following conditions;

  • Bad weather conditions;
  • Mechanical problems of the aircraft; and
  • Strike or other operations by employees of commercial airline or airport preventing the departure.

If I have already booked a flight on Traveloka, but forgotten to buy MSIG Travel Insurance, can I buy insurance later?
No, MSIG Travel Insurance can only be purchased during booking.

Can I cancel MSIG Travel Insurance and get a refund?
MSIG Travel Insurance that has been purchased is non-refundable except when the Insured Person is not granted a visa subject to the evidence provided by the relevant embassy and the Insured Person notifies MSIG before the departure date.

Is there a time limit for submitting a claim?

How long does it take to process a claim?
Claims will normally be processed within 15 days after all the required documents have been received by MSIG.

Insurance policy commences when the Insured is checked through the ID Check-Point to proceed to the departure gate at the airport of origin (Domestic plan) or when the Insured is checked through the Departure Immigration to leave Thailand (International plan)

Does this medical Expense due to Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) Infection cover when travel aboard?
No. This travel insurance plan cover only for the domestic trip.

Does it cover Medical Check Up and COVID-19 test fee?
If the insured If the person is diagnosed with COVIC, the cost of medical check up & testing is included within the medical expense.

Covering in the event Insured sustains injury from an accident and suffers loss of life, dismemberment, loss of sight or total permanent disability within 180 days from the date of the accident or while receiving continuous medical treatment as an in-patient in a hospital or medical facilities and loss of life occurs because of such injury. The Company shall pay Sum Insured of this coverage stated in the policy.

Exclusions:

  1. Suicide or self-inflicted injury or any attempts thereat.
  2. Miscarriage
  3. Acts of the Insured while under the influence of alcohol or addictive substances or drugs of harmful nature to the extent of being incapable of controlling one’s senses. The definition of “under the influence of alcohol” in the case of a blood test is a level of alcohol of 150-mg.% or higher.
  4. While the Insured is driving or riding a motorcycle, boarding or disembarking or travelling as a passenger in an aircraft not licensed for carrying passengers and not operated by a commercial airline and while operating or serving as crewmember in any aircraft.
  5. While the Insured is participating in or practicing for or competing in professional sports or while engaging in all types of motor or car racing or boat racing, horse racing, skiing including jet-ski, skating, boxing and parachute jumping (except parachute jumping to save life), boarding or alighting or travelling in a hot-air balloon or glider, bungee jumping, all diving activities which require the use of oxygen tanks and underwater respirator, rock climbing which requires the use of climbing support equipment.
  6. While the Insured is engaging in brawl or having part in inciting a brawl.
  7. While the Insured is in the course of committing a felony or while under arrest or escaping arrest; while the Insured is performing duties as a member of armed forces or police or as a volunteer and engaged in war or crime suppression.
  8. While the Insured has mental and nervous disorders including insanity.

Loss of or Damage to Baggage and/or Personal Effects and/or Golf Equipment Benefit

Coverage :

In the event the Insured’s baggage and/or personal effects and/or golf equipments are lost or damaged due to an errors committed by carrier staff while the Insured has deposited the baggage or other personal effects contained in the baggage and/or golf equipment which the carrier staff have accepted to safe keep such items under their care.

Exclusions :

  1. This insurance does not cover the Deductible (if any).
  2. Loss of or damage to property as follows: Wallet or purse or baggage which is not carry on luggage as defined in the Definitions, animals, motor-propelled vehicles (including accessories of such vehicles), any other vehicles or vessels, snow skis, household effects, antiques, television, CD player, computer notebook, diamonds, gold, silver, including gold and silver products, precious stones, precious metals, fur, or items decorated with such materials, jewelry, watches and wristband of any kind, contact lenses, wheel-chair, denture, artificial limbs, hearing aid, securities, documents, promissory notes, bank notes, coins, or souvenirs.
  3. Loss or damage caused by wear and tear, gradual deterioration, moths, vermin such as mice, inherent vice or damage sustained due to any process by the Insured to repair, clean or modify any property.
  4. Loss of or damage to hired or leased equipment.
  5. Seize or dispossession of property under law, confiscation of property by order of government, transportation of illegal trades, or any other unlawful acts.
  6. Loss or damage recovered from the carrier.
  7. Loss or damage recoverable from the carrier.
  8. Loss to baggage sent in advance by the Insured or souvenirs and articles mailed or shipped separately.
  9. Properties left behind by the Insured in any vehicles or public places or losses as a result of the Insured’s negligence in taking due care and precautions for the safeguard and security of such properties.
  10. Loss of trading goods or product samples.
  11. Loss of data recorded on tapes, programs, discs, data storage cards, or other similar devices.
  12. Loss of or damage to the Insured’s baggage left unattended in public places.

General Exclusion

  • War, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities or warlike operations (whether War be declared or not), civil War, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, civil commotion assuming the proportions of or amounting to an uprising, military or usurped power, any act of terrorism, riot, strike.
  • Ionizing radiations, any chemical, biological, bio-chemical, or electromagnetic weapon, the destruction of property by order of any public authority.
  • Whilst the Insured is working in a high-risk environment or a laborer task, maneuvering machineries, oil or gas rigs, underground mines, fishery.

I hereby certify that I have the right and authority to act on behalf of and/or make statements in order to purchase insurance policy(ies) for myself or others and also agree/give consent as follow:

  • give consent to and/or permission for the company to use, access and/or acknowledge email, electronic information channels/systems and personal information provided for the purposes of the approval of insurance contract(s), insurance services, related communication, storage and for other related matters as reasonably necessary;

Online Claim Submission

  1. Download MSIG SpeeDi application for your iOS or Android phones; and register an account.
  2. Submit your claim online via SpeeDi within 30 days of the date of the incident.
  3. Ensure that you collate and attach all the required supporting documents to your claim form. Missing documents may result in the need for clarification and thus will delay the assessment of your claim.
  4. Once the claim has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation of your claim number within three (3) working days after MSIG receives your documents.
